The Expedition
January 2009
The inaugural flight and official launch of the Parajet Skycar will be an extraordinary journey from London to Tombouctou in Mali - an intrepid maiden voyage of some 6000 km through the heart of the Sahara and the frighteningly named 'Empty Quarter.'
The Parajet Skycar expedition team will start from England, in January 2009, and travel through France, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania and Mali to Tombouctou, returning home via Senegal. They will be supported by an experienced team of overland adventurers using all terrain equipment, fuel truck and motorbikes.
The Parajet Skycar will match motorbike performance even in the toughest terrain and will provide an invaluable means of aerial reconnaissance over the impassable sand seas of the Sahara desert. Naturally, the English Channel and Straights of Gibraltar will be flown.
As quoted in the Sunday Times recently: ‘There are few places on earth as forbidding or entrancing as the desert, and the Sahara, the worlds largest, has long been a magnet for a succession of misguided explorers, hopeless romantics, quacks and assorted misfits’ – What better place to test the Parajet Skycar…
